MENU

Welcome drink: Your choice of beer and soft drinks from local brewery Føroya Bjór.

Starter: Samples of tastes from traditional Faroese food.

Main course: Fish soup, made with your catch of fish, peaches, cream and curry! To go with the soup, you will enjoy home-made bread.

Desert: Coffee and home-made cake.

This is an authentic full day experience. You start out with a boat tour in one of the most magnificent areas in the Faroe Islands. Surrounded by dramatic landscapes you cast your fishing line. Returning to the village, you are invited to a local home where you will receive a wonderful meal. After your meal, your host will take you to visit some interesting locations in the village.

You sail out from the marina of Árnafjørður on Borðoy. You sail in a traditional Faroese boat – the utmost of Faroese handicraft. Sailing close to the shore you see the varied landscapes with ravines and grottoes. You sail along the coastline of Bergið and cross the fiord towards Lisshøvdi. Keep your eyes open to seals as they have this area as their natural habitat.

Off the coast you cast your fishing line! Several fish species including haddock and Atlantic cod may be looking to take your bait.

Returning to the marina, you are invited to a local home. Your host, Kristianna will use some of your fish to prepare a wonderful fish soup! Meanwhile you get a chance to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of this 1950s house.

After you have enjoyed your meal, Kristianna will lead you to visit a few interesting places in the village. Firstly, you will visit the school from 1904. Kristianna, a teacher by education, will communicate schooling in the Faroe Islands. From the school you walk down to the old grocery shop from 1932. With its atmosphere from bygone days the shop is curiously self-service. Leaving the shop, you walk over to the church from 1937. Inside the church, your host brings forward aspects such as “religion in the Faroe Islands” and “religion and the Faroese language”.

On your short walks in the village your host will tell some interesting local stories.
