Join a fantastic hike from the picturesque village Saksun to the stunning settlement Tjørnuvík. This is one of the most beautiful hikes in the Faroe Islands.

The tour starts among the iconic turf houses in Dúvugarðar in the village Saksun. You will pass amazing sights along the hiking route. You will hike up to 500 metres (1640 feet) above sea level and down to the beach in Tjørnuvík.

The total lenght of this beautiful hike is 7 kilometres (4,3 miles). The surface along the route will be mostly grass and sometimes basalt rock and pebbles. 

Saksun is well known for its tidal lagoon and many steams that run down the undiscovered mountain sides. You will have the extraordinary opportunity to experience Saksun from the view of a drone – several hundred metres above the village and the natural amphitheater.

Tjørnuvík lies in amazing settings in the northernmost part of the island Streymoy. When you approach Tjørnuvík from the mountains, you will have a panoramic view of the valley where you will find the tidy village next to a beach.  

Your experienced mountain guide will make sure to get you safe from Saksun to Tjørnuvík. Expect to see lots of birds and mesmerizing nature on this three hour hike. When you reach the valley above Saksun, you will familiarise yourself with several bird species during the summer months among others the great skua and the common snipe.

When you rech the village Tjørnuvík, you can enjoy the view of the sea stacks Risin & Kellingin that are located next to cape Eiðiskollur on Eysturoy island. There is a small café in Tjørnuvík where you can have some hot drinks if you like.  

You can add transport from Tórshavn to Saksun during the booking process. Transport from Tjørnuvík and back to Saksun (if you bring your own car) or Tórshavn is included in the price.
