You will also explore the remote village Tjørnuvík and stunning village Gjógv besides visiting the historic destination Kirkjubøur. These villages are all highlights in the Faroe Islands.

Kirkjubøur is the southernmost village on Streymoy and the historical hub in the Faroe Islands with the ruins of the Magnus Cathedral from around 1300, the Saint Olav’s Church from 12th century and the old farmhouse Kirkjubøargarður from 11th century, which is still occupied by the same family for 17 generations.

When you head to the beautiful village of Saksun you will see the natural amphitheatre of cliffs and stunning nature.

During low tides it is also possible to walk along the sandy beach to the ocean.

After exploring Saksun, your next stop is the village of Tjørnuvík, the most northerly village on Streymoy that has become a popular destination among travelers.

Before reaching Tjørnuvík you will pass the impressive waterfall Víkafossur also known as Fossá Waterfall. You will have the chance to stand only few metres away from this natural wonder.

Tjørnuvík has one of the oldest Viking burial grounds where you can see the original burial stones. Enjoy your packed lunch whilst admiring the view of the famous “Giant and his wife” rock formations on the headland. The tour guide will tell you the legend behind the rocks.

You will then take the stunning drive up and past the highest point on the Faroe Islands and descending into the beautiful and picturesque village of Gjógv. Here you may also get the opportunity to take coffee and cake with the locals.

You will take the scenic route back to the capital Tórshavn, with plenty of photo opportunities on the way. Your tour guide will regale you with some of the legends and myths that abound in this magical country.
